Water is necessary for the normal work of your body and to preserve beauty and youngness, nutritionist Gayane Shakhatuni said.
In an interview with NEWS.am Medicine, expert said necessary amount of water depends on a number of factors, including weight, lifestyle and air temperature. One needs on average 25-30 grams of water for one kilo of weight. A person who weighs 70 kilos needs to drink 1,750–2,100 ml of water daily.
If a person is moving a lot and is sweating because of the heat, the amount of water can be increased slightly. However, you should not drink too much, since an excess of water can be as problematic as the lack of water.
When to drink water?
It is advisable to drink the first glass of water in the morning immediately after waking up. According to the expert, it is advisable to drink most of the daily “norm” in the morning until 6-7 p.m. Drinking plenty of water late in the evening is not recommended, as it can worsen the quality of sleep and lead to swelling.
It is advisable to drink water 30 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after. It is not recommended to drink water during and immediately after eating, so that it does not dilute the substances that the body produces to digest food.
What should you do if you do not want to drink?
Some people claim that they practically don’t drink water because they don’t want to. In fact, the desire to drink water will come along with the habit, says Gayane Shakhatuni. If you start drinking a little water, only sip a small amount of water or drink in small portions, the body will soon demand more.
“If you start drinking water, you will immediately feel the difference: the intestines will work properly, and the skin will be fresh,” the expert said.
According to a specialist, people often confuse thirst with weakness, lack of energy, they begin to drink coffee, but they don’t get better, because coffee does not provide the body with the necessary amount of fluid, moreover, it contributes to the removal of fluid from the body.
If you feel weakness, lack of energy during the day, the experts recommend that you should drink a glass of water.
