The number of people with disabilities increased in Armenia over the year.
According to the official data of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, as of June 2019, 189,405 disabled people are registered in Armenia, of whom 8,376 are children.
As Arthur Kesoyan, the head of the Disabled and Elderly Issues Department told reporters on Thursday, the number of registered people with disabilities increased by about 3,000.
“We are trying to analyze the situation to identify the reasons for growth,” said Anna Hakobyan, head of the Department for Equal Opportunities.
She added that according to the draft law, the establishment of disability will be carried out not only based on an assessment of health and disability, but also taking into account social factors.
As noted, the introduction of this model will allow you to create individual programs of services provided.
Hakobyan did not exclude the possibility that the bill will be submitted to parliament by March 2020.
