An international team of scientists has created a 3D functional model of human DNA in order to study the causes of some genetic pathologies; the results of this study were published in Science Magazine.
Scientists note that in order to restore the 3D structure of the genome, the expression level of genes in different parts of the DNA was assessed. In addition, the genes’ interaction with each other was studied.
Specialists are convinced that the creation of this model allows for a clearer understanding of how the genome works. Furthermore, understanding the 3D structure of the human genome can lead to a higher level of diagnosis of genetic diseases.
