Pistachios contain a lot of calories and fat, but they can help lose weight, Nutrition reported.
The study participants were asked to replace all snacks (usually desserts) with pistachios. One group of volunteers had a diet which contains pistachios for 20% and they were consuming more protein and fats and less carbohydrates (51% of their diet was carbohydrates, 20% - proteins, 29% - fats). People from the control group ate as they used to (60% of the diet was carbohydrates, 15% - proteins, 25% - fats).
After six months, people from the first group lost 0.7 inches in waist (minus one size).
