Scientists propose new way to fight COVID-19 in intestines

June 15, 2020  15:37

Russian scientists have proposed a way to combat COVID-19 in the intestine using the integrated use of antiviral drugs and silver nanoparticles, reported.

During the experiments on birds, the scientists used direct-acting antiviral drugs and silver nanoparticles.

Treating birds that were infected with viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 showed efficacy: scientists managed to protect the heart and lungs of chickens infected with bronchitis of chickens from viruses spreading through the gastrointestinal tract.

This study provides prospects for developing new approaches to the treatment and prevention of coronavirus.
