A compact magnetic sensor allows you to catch changes in magnetic fields in the heart and timely detect failures in the work of this organ, Magnetism and Magnetic Materials reported.

The device was developed by the specialists of the National Research Technological University NITU "MISiS" (Moscow) together with colleagues from the University of Aveiro (Portugal).

Magnetic sensors mainly use superconducting magnetic sensors now, which have a high design complexity and need constant cooling to the temperature of liquid helium, while their cost reaches hundreds of thousands of euros.

Meanwhile, the development of scientists operates at room temperature, and the working part does not exceed three centimeters in length. Experts plan to further improve the device to achieve even greater sensitivity.
